The mind’s eye pt.2

“There are those who take photographs arranged beforehand and those who go out to discover the image and seize it. For me the camera is a sketch book, an instrument of intuition and spontaneity, the master of the instant which, in visual terms, questions and decides simultaneously.”

Henri Cartier-Bresson 1999 The mind’s eye. Writings on photography and photographers. Aperture

“Wander aimlessly most of the time” Melanie Einzig

Most of the time when we walk or drive the streets we are thinking of something, our minds are engaged and we are not looking. This is really unfortunate because there is so much to see!

The following images are from a trip to St John’s, Nfld where I wandered the streets aimlessly, just looking.

Street photography: week fifteen

“Wander aimlessly most of the time” Melanie Einzig

If one wanders the streets without any intention in mind, then one begins to see the street.

The Royal Wedding

To celebrate the royal wedding of Prince William of Wales and Kate Middleton I took this image while in Leeds, UK; although I doubt Kate M. will appear like this on her wedding day.
